Ja­co­bus Stainer

Model based on Jakob Stainer with shell maple back and sides.
It was important for me to create an instrument of this type in the form of a gamba as opposed to the much more common Maggini models. I find the aesthetics and sound ideal of gamba instruments differ in a charming way from their Italian siblings.
The instrument shown is played in the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra.
